Ode to the Hitmen of Music Row

“Ode to the Hitman of Music Row” is a song that Matt Bunsen wrote after a trip to Nashville in 2008 where he had lunch with Craig Wiseman, Bob DiPiero, Tony Mullins, and Jeffrey Steele. At the time, Matt was producing a website for their TV show, called – you guessed it – “The Hitman of Music Row”.

The song appears on “Greatest Hits” with Matt singing lead, and a live version appears on “Porch Party – Volume 1” with Promethea on lead vocals.

My oh my, what a strange place I’m in
Gonna try on a Big Loud shirt(1), and wonder where I fit in
Been doing this since I was young(2), no reason to stop tryin
Now its time to live my, gonna live my life, gonna live my life like I’m dyin(3)

chorus:
Come along gents, lets call Van Zandt(4) and
get it out to the world
Having some fun with Brooks and Dunn(5)
gonna get it out to the world
Here come the Hitmen all around the dial(6),
to every little boy and girl…..

I don’t know, what makes them so good
Gonna eat some bologna fry(7), and visit their neighborhood
I’m good with chords and melodies, its words I cant deploy(8)
Guess they’re gonna figure out there aint no honky tonk,
aint no honky tonk, in this boy(9)

[chorus]

Come on guys, who wants to make a bet
I said b-b-b-baby yeah, You Aint Seen Nothin Yet (10)
We’re Worlds Apart(11) but What Hurts the Most(12), is no Money in the Bank. (13) Something’s Gotta Give(14), so Love Me if You Can(15), Take Me as I Am(16)
